Bogor - Indonesia may increase nickel benchmark price, Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Bahlil Lahadalia said ion Wednesday, 25 March 2026 after meeting President Prabowo Subianto at his private residence in Hambalang, Bogor.

The minister said he has reported to President Prabowo about price and strategy for commodities. He highlighted that no changing policy as of Wednesday regarding the measures to control supply and demand of coal and nickel.

"If the prices continue stable, we are going to create measurable relaxation on production plans," Minister Bahlil said.

However, in the meeting, President Prabowo has ordered him to find financial sources from mineral sector that has not yet fair for the state.

"Most likely, I will increase benchmark price of nickel," he said. Indonesia is the world's largest nickel producer.

Indonesia has set 2026's nickel ore output quota 260-270 million tonnes, lower than the previous plan of 379 million tonnes. It set benchmark price of nickel in the first half of March at US$17.329/dmt.***
