Beijing - Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi arrived in China on Wednesday, 6 May 2025 and met his Chinese counterpart Foreign Minister Wang To in Beijing.
Bilateral talks were held at China's Foreign Ministry between the two countries delegations led by the two foreign ministers.
FM Wang Yi reaffirmed China supports for Iran in safeguarding its national sovereignty and security.
"China supports Iran in safeguarding its national sovereignty and security, and appreciates Iran’s readiness to seek political solutions through diplomatic means," Wang Yi said.
He said China is ready to further step up its efforts to de-escalate the situation in West Asia region where Iran has been in war with United States and Israel.
China is also wiling to further step up "to end the fighting, continue to facilitate the launch of peace talks, and play a greater role in restoring peace and tranquility" in West Asia regionn.
"Our Chinese friends believe that Iran after the war is different from Iran before the war," FM Abbas Araghchi.
He praised China, saying that the country's international position has improved and "it has proven its capabilities and power".
"Therefore, a new era of cooperation between Iran and other countries lies ahead," FM Araghci said.**
