Tel Aviv - Israel Defense Force (IDF) on Tuesday, 31 March 2026 said it has concluded review on fatal incident in southern Lebanon that killed two Indonesian peacekeepers that it was not by its troops or activity.
On Monday, an explosion that hit a logistic convoy of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL), killing two Indonesian peacekeepers and injuring two others in Bani Haiyyan in southern Lebanon.
A day earlier, an Indonesian peacekeeper was killed, three other injured in a shelling in southern Lebanon, the IDF has not comment on that fatal incident.
"A comprehensive operational examination indicates that no explosive device was placed in the area by IDF troops, and that no IDF troops were present in the area at all," IDF said in a statement on Tuesday.
It reiterated that the military operation in Lebanon is against Hezbollah, a Lebanon-based armed group, and not against UNIFIL, Lebanese Armed Forces, or civilians.
"The IDF calls on UNIFIL to avoid presence in combat zones where the IDF has issued warnings to the civilian population to evacuate for their safety," it said.
UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres on Tuesday strongly condemn Sunday and Monday's attacks that killed total three Indonesian peacekeepers and injured five others.
On Monday regarding Sunday's fatal incident he said: I strongly condemn Sunday's incident during which an Indonesian peacekeeper of UNIFIL was killed amidst hostilities between Israel and Hezbollah," he said.
Indonesian government strongly condemned both fatal incident and killed Captain Zulmi Aditya, Sergeant Muhammad Nur Ichawan and Private Farizal Rhomadhon.
