Dhaka - Bangladesh's officials on Sunday, 12 July 2026 announced that at least 51 people had died and 36 thousands others temporarily displaced after landslides and flash floods due to Monsoon rain hit several locations over the past week.

Authorities have been sending aids to affected people by opening about 4,000 shelters for IDPs who faces food shortages and crisis of clean drinking water. 

Furthermore, the Myanmar military-backed government distributed aid relief in cash as much as  5.7 million Taka or about US$46.9 thousand, including 643.4 tons of rice, 28,015 dry food packages, and many more to the impacted regions. 

According to reports, most impacted cities are including Bandarban, Habiganj, Khagrachhari, Moulvibazar, and Rangamati as well as  Chattogram where more than 759,590 people have been affected by the disaster.

Chattogram Divisional Commissioner Muhammed Ziauddin said that 29 people had been killed by  a landslide, while two others are still missing. 

Refugees Affected

Cox’s Bazar, the world's largest refugee camp, mostly Rohingya refugeesh, also is impacted severely  by the natural disaster.

Human Rights Watch stated that the landslide in Cox's Bazar had killed 17 people, and displaced 3,000 others. 

Besides that, the Rohingya Coordination Platform reported 286 weather-related incidents across Cox’s Bazar camps on 4 July and 9 July, have affected 26,119 refugees.
