Jakarta - Celebrating the successful conclusion of 2026 FIFA World Cup, three host nations - the United States, Canada, and Mexico - through their embassies in Indonesia held a friendly soccer tournament in Jakarta on Saturday, 18 July 2026.
Indonesians also participated in the friendly soccer tournament as stated in the three embassies joint press release as follows:
"To mark the successful conclusion of the tri-nation-hosted 2026 FIFA World Cup, the United States, Canada, and Mexico joined Indonesia for a friendly mini-soccer tournament celebrating the spirit of sport, unity, and international partnership.
The event took place on Saturday, July 18, at Gelora Bung Karno (GBK) soccer field A, bringing together diplomatic missions and local communities for a morning of friendly competition and cross-cultural exchange.
The tournament reflected the strong ties between the co-host nations of the 2026 World Cup and underscored the enduring partnership each maintains with Indonesia.

Representing the United States were U.S. Ambassador to ASEAN Ambassador Kevin Kim and Chargé d’Affaires, ad interim, at the U.S. Embassy in Jakarta Joy Sakurai, alongside Mexican Ambassador to Indonesia Francisco de la Torre Galindo, Canadian Political and Economic Counselor Juan-Pablo Valdes, and Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ Director General for American and European Affairs Grata Endah Werdaningtyas.
The event featured mixed teams composed of embassy staff, local partners, and community members, fostering goodwill both on and off the field.
