New York - United Nations Security Council (UNSC) on Tuesday, 31 March 2026 held an emergency meeting, called by Indonesian government, following two fatal incidents toward the peacekeepers under United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) in Lebanon, killing three Indonesian peacekeepers.

The two fatal incidents occurred on Sunday and Monday in southern Lebanon. Indonesian Foreign Minister Sugiono called UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres, calling for a UN Security Council emergency meeting.

Earlier, Israel has denied its involvement in the two fatal incidents.

Israel representative to the United Nations told the emergency meeting denied that the two fatal incident committed by its party, but Hezbollah, a Lebanon-based armed group.

"Regarding the attack that took place yesterday, March 30th, we can confirm today that the UNIFIL forces were hit by Hezbollah explosive devices in an incident near Bani Hayyan. In addition, the shelling of UNIFIL near Adshid al Qasr on 29th of March, in which UNIFIL peacekeeper was tragically killed, was carried out by Hezbollah," Israeli Ambassador to UN Danny Danon told the emergency meeting.

He said IDF did not attack in a short-range.

Responding Israel's clarification, Indonesian Ambassador to UN Umar Hadi said the country demands investigation, conducted by United Nations.

“Let me be clear, we demand investigation by the United Nations, not excuses from Israel,” Umar Hadi told the meeting.

Indonesian also demanded full accountability for the perpetrators as well as a clear, strong, and unified voice from the Security Council to condemn the two fatal attacks "and implement urgent measures to protect all United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon personnel".
